Some journeys begin with months of planning. Mine began during a casual conversation over lunch. After completing my Chhattisgarh jungle trek earlier in 2026, I was already wondering where the next adventure might take me. A friend and I were discussing possible treks for July or August when we decided to phone another friend for suggestions. After considering a few options, we chose the Miyar Valley Trek in the Lahaul region . At the time, it was simply another destination on the map. I had no idea it would become a journey filled with fragrant flowers, freezing river crossings, playful dogs, unpredictable weather and moments of complete peace among the mountains. The Journey to Manali Since the trek was scheduled to begin early on 1 August 2026 , we travelled to Chandigarh, as there is no direct flight to Manali, on 30 July and took an overnight journey to Manali. Char Dham Yatra – Our Experience and Learnings

We travelled to Char Dham (also called Choti Char Dham) in Uttarakhand during the first week of October 2025 . The four holy places we visited were Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath . This year was challenging because of heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides . Many roads were damaged, and temporary roads had been created, especially on the way to Yamunotri. Even in such difficult conditions, it was impressive to see how government workers were continuously clearing roads to keep the Char Dham route open. Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun and Stay in Mussoorie We landed in Dehradun on 4th October , but instead of staying there, we went straight to Mussoorie for the night. This helped us save travel time the next day. Our journey was tightly planned from the beginning. Usually, Char Dham crowds reduce in October, but this year it was very crowded . Many people who could not travel in September came in October, which caused traffic jams and delays. The next day...

🌿 Into the Heart of the Jungle: My Chhattisgarh Trek With Indiahikes

Some journeys begin long before you take the first step. Mine started at Kedarnath, during a casual conversation with a fellow traveller who couldn’t stop raving about a trek deep inside the forests of Chhattisgarh—especially the star‑gazing experience. Her excitement was contagious. Soon after, a chat with my cousin sealed the plan. We booked our slots in November 2025 for January 2026, and spent weeks imagining what lay ahead. None of it, of course, matched what we eventually experienced. 🌌 Day 0–1: Arrival & The Sky That Hugged Us On 15th January 2026 , we landed in Raipur. The next morning at 6 AM, our journey to the base camp began—hours of driving through barren lands, farmlands etc.  I was wondering What exactly had I signed up for?
